Warden has gone a perfect 10-0 against Columbia recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Cougars will challenge the Coyotes at 3:00 p.m. Warden will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
On Friday, Warden got the win against Mabton by a conclusive 18-3. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Columbia ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Tri-Cities Prep, sneaking past 20-19. The win was some much needed relief for the Coyotes as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Makena Kranz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over eight innings while giving up five earned (and 14 unearned) runs off 14 hits. Kranz was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-6 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Sofia Ortega was incredible, going 5-for-6 with four runs, three doubles, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Amara Magana was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Columbia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 11.2.
Warden's record now sits at 10-8. As for Columbia, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Warden was able to grind out a solid victory over Columbia in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, winning 10-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
