Baseball Game Preview: Marlow Outlaws vs. Plainview Indians

Marlow is a perfect 10-0 against Plainview since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Outlaws will venture away from home to challenge the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Marlow's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Plainview's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Marlow and Lone Grove, and Lone Grove kept the tradition alive. The Outlaws fell just short of the Longhorns by a score of 8-7 on Tuesday.

Plainview came out on top against Douglass on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run first inning. The Indians were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Trojans. Considering the Indians have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Shepard Sisemore, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Plainview is 3-1 when Sisemore posts two or more runs, but 7-11 otherwise. Jake Wallace also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Plainview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March.

Plainview pushed their record up to 10-12 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Marlow, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-6.

Marlow took their victory against Plainview in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Outlaws since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
