The South Paulding Spartans lost against the New Manchester Jaguar back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. South Paulding took a serious blow against New Manchester, falling 63-30. While losing is never fun, South Paulding can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 227th, while New Manchester is ranked 33rd).
Despite the loss, South Paulding had strong showings from Lindsey Henry, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Chloe Vandyke, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Vandyke continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Jocelyn Faison continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for New Manchester, scoring 18 points along with five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyara Lawrence, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
South Paulding's loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for New Manchester, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 17-4.
South Paulding will be playing in front of their home fans against Newnan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in South Paulding's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Newnan has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. As for New Manchester, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against McIntosh at 3:00 p.m. on February 3rd. New Manchester is coming into the match with six straight victories at home, so McIntosh is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
