The Liberty Center Tigers will challenge the Napoleon Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty Center is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Liberty Center blew Swanton out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Swanton got their revenge. The Tigers fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 6-4.
Aubrey Zeiter was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Hope Atkinson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Napoleon). They blew past Southview 16-1 on Monday. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Arianna Kiessling (Jr) made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Those hits were her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addy Thompson Jr), who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Kendall Horner (Jr) was another key player, scoring a run while going 4-for-4.
Napoleon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win got Napoleon back to even at 4-4-1. As for Liberty Center, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.
Liberty Center's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Tigers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Napoleon, though, as they've been averaging only 0.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Liberty Center continue to outrun the ball?
Liberty Center couldn't quite finish off Napoleon in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 and fell 4-2. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
