After flying high against the Bronson Eagles on Thursday, the Destin Sharks came back down to earth. Destin took a 65-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chiefland. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Destin's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Traiton Mauffray, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The game was Mauffray's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Imaran Harris, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Destin has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Chiefland, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Destin and Paxton will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Paxton's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups. Chiefland is on the road again on Friday and play against Williston at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
