Blake Barney and Dakota Bair provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Cedar City. The longest such play in 3A Region 9 this season, the connection resulted in 82 yards.
Desert Hills was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Snow Canyon. The Thunder came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 30 last week.
Dixie's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Barney threw for 255 and five touchdowns and Bair had 95 yards receiving. On the ground Barney chipped in 85 yards. Drew Batchelor helped Dixie's passing attack out by catching three balls for 82 yards.
The Flyers' Barney and Batchelor have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Barney has thrown for 1917 yards this season, while Batchelor, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 30 catches for 604 yards. Pine View's Prentiss Miller leads the league in rushing yards with 1453.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Hurricane and Desert Hills. The Tigers comes into the matchup ranked ninth in the state, while Carl Franke's team ranks 23rd.
Going into this week's game against the Warriors, Dixie's Barney needs 83 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Hurricane takes on the Thunder. Chris Homer's team has allowed 130 points this season, while Desert Hills has given up 93.
The Panthers took down Canyon View 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
