The Morgan Trojans are taking a road trip to square off against the American Leadership Academy Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Morgan has five straight wins, American Leadership Academy has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
While Morgan's victory against Judge Memorial Catholic wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since May 8, 2024.
Camron Talbot made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Owen Gilson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Gilson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Morgan hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Judge Memorial Catholic struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, American Leadership Academy came up short against Summit Academy last Friday and fell 6-2.
American Leadership Academy saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justus Brost, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Memphis Butler also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Morgan's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for American Leadership Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
American Leadership Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Morgan has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. It's a different story for American Leadership Academy, though, as they've been averaging 9.8 hits. Given Morgan's sizable advantage in that area, the Eagles will need to find a way to close that gap.
Morgan beat American Leadership Academy 7-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
