The Dunbar Wildcats are on the road again on Thursday and plays the Van Alstyne Panthers on February 15th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Dunbar rose to the challenge on Monday. They blew past the Yellowjackets 66-40. Dunbar has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Dunbar's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ariel Duran, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Duran has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jordan McIntosh, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Van Alstyne scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They claimed a resounding 82-10 win over North Hills Prep at home. The team's offensive explosion also rewarded Van Alstyne with their most commanding win of the season.
Dunbar is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. As for Van Alstyne, their win bumped their record up to 20-13.
Dunbar came up short against Van Alstyne when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 64-59. Can Dunbar avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
