Basketball Recap: 20 Straight Home Victories for Seventy-First

Seventy-First won the last time they faced Gray's Creek and things went their way on Friday too. The Seventy-First Falcons took their game with ease, bagging a 77-26 victory over the Gray's Creek Bears. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while the Bears are ranked 477th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Seventy-First got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Javon Foster out in front who went 6 of 7 on his way to 13 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Foster a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacquez Foster, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 15 points and three steals.

Seventy-First was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gray's Creek only racked up seven assists.

Despite the loss, Gray's Creek still got an impressive performance from Ezekiel Reed, who posted six points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayvien Richardson, who had eight points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Seventy-First pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Gray's Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Seventy-First wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 63-48 win against Pine Forest on the 4th. As for Gray's Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-61 victory against Douglas Byrd on the 7th.
