The Mater Dei Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Carmi-White County Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.
Last Friday, Mater Dei was beaten by Mt. Zion 41-6. Mater Dei was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-0.
Even if they lost, Mater Dei's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Mt. Zion's QB was sacked three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Chandler Toennies and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Carmi-White County's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were outmatched by Johnston City at home and fell 38-6.
The losses dropped Mater Dei to 6-3 and Carmi-White County to 7-2.
Everything came up roses for Mater Dei against Carmi-White County in their previous matchup back in October of 2021 as the team secured a 54-16 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mater Dei since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
