The East Union Lancers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 58-22 loss at the hands of Central Catholic. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points East Union has scored all season.
Central Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Wesley Payne, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Payne has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Wentworth, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
East Union has been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season. As for Central Catholic, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 17-5.
East Union will head out on the road to take on Oakdale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Central Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sierra at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sierra will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 504th, while Central Catholic is ranked 212th).
