The Canton Little Giants posted their biggest win yet this season on Monday. They blew past Orr, posting a 61-32 win on the road. Given Canton's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while Orr is ranked 367th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Canton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Wenger, who scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wenger has scored all season. Jena Goforth was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Neshaun Williams, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nia Crawford, who scored nine points along with six steals.
Canton has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Orr, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canton will take on Limestone at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Orr, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Amundsen at 5:00 p.m. Amundsen is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
