Knoxville Catholic lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Webb, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's match. The Fighting Irish put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 13-4 win on Wednesday. Considering the Fighting Irish have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Caitlin Brooks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Claudia Schaad, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Gracie Eunice was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Knoxville Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Webb only posted a batting average of .148.

Knoxville Catholic's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 14-10. As for Webb, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Knoxville Catholic will venture away from home to square off against First Baptist Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Webb, they will head out to face off against West at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
