Tate Torgerson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on James Crowley, who scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Pierce, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
North Sevier always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .520. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Millard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 22-6 to Enterprise. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly 16 runs.
The win got North Sevier back to even at 2-2. As for Millard, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
North Sevier's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. North Sevier has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Millard, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will North Sevier continue to outrun the ball?
North Sevier came out on top in a nail-biter against Millard in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 9-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Sevier since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
