Basketball Game Preview: Escambia County Blue Devils vs. Charles Henderson Trojans

The Escambia County Blue Devils will venture away from home to square off against the Charles Henderson Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Escambia County was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 59-58 to Hillcrest. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Cleo Bolar, who went 8 for 20 on his way to 17 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The game was his ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaniguel Taylor, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 16 points.

Meanwhile, Charles Henderson had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 69-35 victory over the Jaguars. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Charles Henderson's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Escambia County, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
