After a string of three wins, the DeSoto Dragons's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 60-49 to Hillsboro. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for DeSoto in their matchups with Hillsboro: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why DeSoto lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aidyn Mitchell. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points. Mitchell continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Mcclinton, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
DeSoto's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Hillsboro, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. DeSoto will challenge Festus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Festus presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than DeSoto in Missouri (Festus is ranked 136th, while DeSoto is ranked 391st). As for Hillsboro, they will head out on the road to square off against Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
