Not much got past JuliAnn Kyle, who gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks to keep Lauderdale County off the board. Those 14 strikeouts gave Kyle a new career-high.
At the plate, Aubrey Bethune and Lilly Bethune did most of the damage at the plate: Aubrey went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Lilly went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Ella Yarbrough, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
West Limestone hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in 15 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Rogers unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 7-3 to Mars Hill Bible.
Piper Gooch was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season. Alona Davis was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
West Limestone's victory bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Rogers, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. West Limestone hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .459. However, it's not like Rogers struggles in that department as they've averaged .413. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went West Limestone's way against Rogers when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as West Limestone made off with a 12-2 win. Will West Limestone repeat their success, or does Rogers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
