Hernando and Lewisburg are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hernando will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Hernando's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Horn Lake as they made off with a 15-0 win. Considering the Tigers have won 12 contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Adalynn Rochelle looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hayden Hodge, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Desmond, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.
Hernando was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .714. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Lewisburg fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Hernando on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. Patriots fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Tigers since on Thursday.
Anna Etter was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Leona-Klaire Stokes was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Hernando's victory was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 24-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Lewisburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-11.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hernando hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .378. However, it's not like Lewisburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .331. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hernando was able to grind out a solid victory over Lewisburg when the teams last played on Thursday, winning 7-4. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
