Hughson pushed their score all the way to 60 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ripon Christian. While losing is never fun, Hughson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 915th, while Ripon Christian is ranked 309th).
Livingston suffered their biggest defeat since December 21, 2023 on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 66-37 loss at the hands of Ripon. Livingston has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Livingston saw an underclassman step up: Adrian Aguirre scored 18 points. That was a full 48.6% of Livingston's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Hughson has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Livingston, their loss dropped their record down to 7-16.
Hughson came up short against Livingston when the teams last played on January 5th, falling 59-55. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Aguirre, who scored 29 points.
