The Traders Point Christian Knights will head out to face off against the Indiana Math & Science Academy North Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Monday, Traders Point Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 66-61 to Mooresville Christian. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (60), the Knights still had to take the loss.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Quentin Jones, who went 7 for 17 en route to 23 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jakson Jones, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards.
Meanwhile, Indiana Math & Science Academy North had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They breezed by the Deaf Hoosiers to the tune of 62-16.
Indiana Math & Science Academy North's win came from a few key players Traders Point Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Spencer Turner, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 13 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. Xzavion Collins was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.
Indiana Math & Science Academy North smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.
Traders Point Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Indiana Math & Science Academy North, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Traders Point Christian has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 25.4 boards per game. However, it's not like Indiana Math & Science Academy North struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
