Aztec and Miyamura are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but likely not for long. The Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Aztec is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
Last Tuesday, Aztec made easy work of Shiprock and carried off a 20-2 win. Considering the Tigers have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Reagan Bradshaw was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and not a single walk). Bradshaw was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Aztec got a massive performance out of Cheyenne Yellow, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Yellow continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Alexyn Candelaria was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI.
Aztec was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Miyamura came up short against Kirtland Central on Tuesday and fell 10-5. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Phillicity Nez was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Aztec's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-10. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Miyamura, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Aztec hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .375. However, it's not like Miyamura struggles in that department as they've averaged .390. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Aztec's way against Miyamura in their previous matchup on Thursday, as Aztec made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
