American Leadership Academy-Johnston found their leader in underclassman Cameron Thaxton, who rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Thaxton really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Symir Ray, who rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Cedar Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for American Leadership Academy-Johnston, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cedar Ridge will square off against Sanderson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Cedar Ridge focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Friday. As for American Leadership Academy-Johnston, they are on the road again on Friday to play Roanoke Rapids at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Roanoke Rapids has won three straight at home, while American Leadership Academy-Johnston won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
