It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Morrill Lions ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They managed a 48-42 win over Hemingford. The win was just what Morrill needed coming off of a 56-31 defeat in their prior game.
Morrill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Pittman Ashwin led the charge by scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. Wyler Fisher was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Morrill's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-9. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Hemingford, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morrill will challenge Bridgeport at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bridgeport will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Morrill surely won't give up without a fight. Hemingford will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Kimball on February 9th.
