The Farina South Central Cougars will take on the Edwards County Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Farina South Central 3.8, Edwards County 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Edwards County will be up against a hot Farina South Central team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Cougars' pitchers stepped up to hand Ramsey an 11-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Cougars have won nine matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

04/22/25 @ Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City | 3 |

04/20/24 vs Edwards County | 3 |
Bri Buchanan was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kyra Swift, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Farina South Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Edwards County hadn't done well against Hamilton County recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Lions came out on top in a nail-biter against the Foxes, sneaking past 5-3.
Allison Groff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alice Robb, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
Edwards County's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Farina South Central, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Farina South Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Edwards County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Farina South Central skirted past Edwards County 9-7 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
