The Granville Central Panthers entered their tilt with the Durham School of the Arts Bulldogs with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Granville Central walked away with a 48-36 win over the Bulldogs on Tuesday. Given Granville Central's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 421st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jordan Alston was his usual excellent self, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times he's played. Trent Harrington was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Durham School of the Arts' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jadin Haynes, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, and Josiah Dorsette who scored eight points along with seven assists and five steals. Dorsette is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games he's played.
Granville Central's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-5. As for Durham School of the Arts, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Granville Central will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Louisburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. As for Durham School of the Arts, they will head out on the road to face off against the at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Varsity Opponent has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 30.
