Sanderson has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Broughton Capitals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Sanderson posted their biggest victory yet this season on Friday. Everything went their way against Athens Drive as Sanderson made off with a 57-32 victory. Given Sanderson's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while Athens Drive is ranked 408th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nathan Fife continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Patrick Dalton was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Even though Broughton has not done well against Leesville Road recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Broughton took down Leesville Road 63-49.
Broughton's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Harrison Peatross, who scored 19 points, and Jordan Page, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Peatross scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Chauncey Sumpter, who scored four points along with two steals and two blocks.
Sanderson has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Broughton's record is now 6-9.
Sanderson came up short against Broughton in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 63-56. Can Sanderson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
