After a string of three wins, the Canyon Comanches's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They lost to Etiwanda on the road by a decisive 65-49 margin. While losing is never fun, Canyon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Etiwanda is ranked sixth).
Canyon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaden Goodall, who scored 20 points. Goodall scored a full 40.8% of Canyon's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Goodall, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Canyon struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Etiwanda, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Canyon will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. Paul on December 27th. Etiwanda will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Dixie at 5:00 p.m. on December 27th.
