Baseball Recap: Alcoa Snags Ninth Victory in Last 11 Games

Alcoa got themselves on the board against Eagleton College & Career Academy on Tuesday, but Eagleton College & Career Academy never followed suit. They blew past the Royals 10-0. Considering the Tornadoes have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Josh Simpson tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Aden Orrick and Bleau Kennedy did most of the damage at the plate: Orrick scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4, while Kennedy scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Cory Hatcher also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Alcoa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eagleton College & Career Academy didn't got any hits.

Alcoa is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Eagleton College & Career Academy, they dropped their record down to 9-9-1 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Alcoa will take on Manatee in a tournament on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tornadoes 3.1, the Hurricanes 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Eagleton College & Career Academy, they will head out to take on Hancock County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
