The Culver City Centaurs will head out on the road to face off against the Palos Verdes Sea Kings at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Culver City had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Peninsula 43-7 at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-7.
Culver City's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Myles Singleton, who gained 196 total yards and two touchdowns, and Sammy Silvia, who threw for 483 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.4 yards per attempt. Singleton's longest reception was for an incredible 75 yards. Henry Brownlow did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in three field goals and four extra points.
Culver City's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Leading the way was Jordan Njoku and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, after only nine points in their last contest, Palos Verdes made sure to put some points up on the board against Redondo Union on Friday. Palos Verdes breezed by Redondo Union at home to the tune of 42-0. Given Palos Verdes' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Redondo Union is ranked 217th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Palos Verdes' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eric Mulkey, who rushed for 78 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Rakowski, who threw for 189 yards and two touchdowns on only 16 passes.
Their wins bumped Culver City to 6-2 and Palos Verdes to 8-0.
Culver City might still be hurting after the 28-7 loss they got from Palos Verdes in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Culver City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
