The Freedom Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Alhambra Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Freedom is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
Freedom is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Del Norte by a score of 7-4.
Riley Moon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Jaiden Proctor was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Yasmeen Sanchez, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Freedom was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .438 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Alhambra entered their tilt with Berkeley on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Yellowjackets.
Alhambra also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Willa Adler gave up a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. Adler has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Alhambra saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Corina Griffone, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Freedom's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-9-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Alhambra, their record is now 15-10.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Freedom hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .431. However, it's not like Alhambra struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Freedom suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Alhambra in their previous matchup back in April of 2019. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
