West Marion had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Seminary Bulldogs by a score of 8-4 on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Trojans, who have now won six games in a row.
Izzy Pittman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2025. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.
In other batting news, West Marion let Griffyn Harmon and Harley Ramshur run wild. Harmon went 2-for-4 with three runs, while Ramshur went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Harmon continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caydance Brumfield, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
West Marion kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seminary only managed five.
West Marion's record is now 20-8. As for Seminary, their loss dropped their record down to 13-16.
West Marion will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
