Things were looking good for Bellwood-Antis after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 8-4 to Tyrone.
Chase Plummer was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Matt Berkowitz, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Central Cambria narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Chestnut Ridge 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Red Devils have posted against the Lions since April 22, 2019.
JD Brouse spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Central Cambria saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Black, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
Central Cambria pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bellwood-Antis, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
Bellwood-Antis was able to grind out a solid victory over Central Cambria in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 8-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
