Even though the Coral Reef Barracudas scored an imposing 75 points on Tuesday, the Palmetto Panthers still came out on top. Palmetto took their contest against Coral Reef 83-75. Given Palmetto's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Coral Reef is ranked 568th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Santiago Henriquez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 36 points along with 7 steals and 5 assists. The matchup was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Samfree Sarante, who scored 13 points.
Despite the defeat, Coral Reef saw an underclassman step up: Angel Santos scored 8 points.
Palmetto now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Coral Reef, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palmetto will take on Ferguson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Coral Reef, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Ransom Everglades at 7:30 p.m. on December 7th.
