The Servite Friars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 92-49 loss at the hands of Mater Dei. Servite was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-22.
Mater Dei's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Barnett, who scored 19 points along with three steals. The contest was Barnett's 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brannon Martinsen, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Servite's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 9-8. As for Mater Dei, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-1.
Servite will head out on the road to face off against Orange Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mater Dei's road trip will continue as they head out to face Catholic Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Catholic Memorial is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
