Deuce Carter made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Carter wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Damonta Keyes, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. Those three RBI gave Keyes a new career-high. Ryder Ivy was another, scoring a run and stealing Two bases.
Meanwhile, everything went Lake's way against Morton on Wednesday as Lake made off with an 11-1 win. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Like Raleigh, Lake also got a great game from a two-way player: Wes Nester. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance gave Nester a new career-low in hits. He was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played.
In other batting news, Jd Gibson was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 11 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Gray, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3.
Lake's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2. As for Raleigh, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Raleigh has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
