Sequoyah hasn't had much luck against Pope recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Chiefs will head out to face off against the Greyhounds at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Sequoyah is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Georgia's top teams: River Ridge, who was ranked 15th at the time (Sequoyah was ranked 19th). The Chiefs lost 3-0 to the Knights last Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Chiefs have suffered since October 9, 2024.
The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: River Ridge scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-19, 25-17.

Despite the loss, Sequoyah got top-tier performance from Jessica White, who had 20 digs and two assists. White has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last four times she's played.
Meanwhile, Pope came up short against Marist on Saturday and fell 2-0. Considering the last time the Greyhounds couldn't score was back in August, the team can't take the result too hard.
Pope's defeat dropped their record down to 24-7. As for Sequoyah, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 17-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Sequoyah has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Pope struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Sequoyah might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Pope when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Chiefs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
