The Adams City Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Gateway Olympians at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Adams City will be strutting in after a victory while Gateway will be coming in after a defeat.
Adams City's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Thornton as they made off with a 10-0 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Mauro Acosta made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Nathan Gonzalez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Christian Ramirez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Gateway's offense. They lost 6-0 to Adams City on Tuesday. The shutout was out of character for the Olympians seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.
Angel Ferrusquia made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. He has become a key player for Gateway: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-5 otherwise.
Adams City is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Gateway, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Adams City has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Gateway struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Adams City took their win against Gateway when the teams last played on Tuesday by a conclusive 6-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
