The Willow Spring Storm will head out on the road to face off against the Southeast Raleigh Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Willow Spring is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Southeast Raleigh in North Carolina (Willow Spring is ranked 29th, while Southeast Raleigh is ranked 105th).
In what's become a running theme this season, Willow Spring gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They breezed by Fuquay - Varina at home to the tune of 66-32. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Willow Spring has posted since December 15, 2023.
Willow Spring found their leader in underclassman Zariah Burnette, who scored 20 points along with five steals. Burnette hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Korin Gladden, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Southeast Raleigh beat Rocky Mount 38-32 last Monday.
Willow Spring pushed their record up to 13-3 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points per game. As for Southeast Raleigh, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Willow Spring strolled past Southeast Raleigh when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a score of 54-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Willow Spring since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
