The Lennard Longhorns's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They suffered a tough 52-27 loss at the hands of Armwood. While losing is never fun, Lennard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 447th, while the Hawks are ranked 158th).
Several Longhorns players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Victora Whitfield, who scored eight points along with two blocks. Another player making a difference was Ashlee Lovett, who scored ten points.
Amaya Richardson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Armwood, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Richardson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Dickens, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Lennard has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Armwood, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lennard will challenge the Yellow Jackets at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Blake is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Armwood, they will head out on the road to take on the Stingrays at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sumner is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
