Softball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Schalmont's Winning Streak

Schalmont dropped their record down to 12-3 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ichabod Crane Riders. If the Sabres were looking for revenge after losing 12-1 to the Riders when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Ichabod Crane, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games.

For Ichabod Crane's part, the team relied heavily on Charlotte Pelizza, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Ali Cox also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Schalmont will square off against rival Albany Academy for Girls at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Ichabod Crane is set to challenge their familiar foe La Salle Institute at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
