The ConVal Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Hanover Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
ConVal's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Sanborn Regional 11-0.
Isaac Clough was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Clough was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Anthony Gutwein was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs. Another player making a difference was Grayson Yergeau, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Bears on Friday. Hanover came out on top against Coe-Brown Academy by a score of 6-2. The win continues a trend for Hanover in their matchups with Coe-Brown Academy: they've now won four in a row.
Like ConVal, Hanover also got a great game from a two-way player: Wyatt Daigle. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Daigle has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Lobb, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Jorgen Drent was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
ConVal's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Hanover, their record is now 4-2.
ConVal suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Hanover in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
