Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Columbus). They blew past Union 22-0 last Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Kaleigh Blackwell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2025.
In other batting news, Isabella Evans was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Maddie Bullard, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
West Columbus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Whiteville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for West Columbus, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7.
Whiteville got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 against West Columbus by a conclusive 16-2 score. Do the Wolfpack have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
