Brownfield hasn't had much luck against Coahoma recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Brownfield Cubs will host the Coahoma Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m.
Last Tuesday, Brownfield didn't have quite enough to beat Stanton and fell 6-5.
Meanwhile, Coahoma put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Greenwood with a sharp 13-2 win. Considering the Bulldogs have won ten matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Hannah Wells and Avery Rodriguez were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Wells pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rodriguez tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Wells has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in ten consecutive appearances. At the plate, Wells went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Rodriguez scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI Wells has posted over her last 13 games.
In other batting news, Coahoma let Bree Lewis and Emery Doporto run wild. Lewis went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Doporto went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave Doporto a new career-high. Blakley Rodgers was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.
Coahoma lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenwood didn't launched any home runs.
Coahoma pushed their record up to 14-0 with the victory, which was their 24th straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Brownfield, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Brownfield might still be hurting after the 10-4 defeat they got from Coahoma in their previous meeting back in February of 2020. Will Brownfield have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
