The Sissonville Indians will head out to challenge the Riverside Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sissonville's pitching crew has only allowed one run per game this season, so Riverside's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Sissonville will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against South Charleston on Thursday. The Indians never let the Black Eagles get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Considering the Indians have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Jozey Wilson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Jayme Robinson was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jaidyn Taylor, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Riverside didn't have quite enough to beat Sherman on Friday and fell 4-2.
Sissonville is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Riverside, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-8.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sissonville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. However, it's not like Riverside struggles in that department as they've averaged .366. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sissonville suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Riverside in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
