The Victoria East Titans will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Gregory-Portland Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Even though Victoria East has not done well against Ray recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Victoria East walked away with a 60-53 victory over Ray.
In what's become a running theme this season, Gregory-Portland gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 88-58 win over Ray. The victory was nothing new for Gregory-Portland as they're now sitting on three straight.
Gregory-Portland can attribute much of their success to Trevor Jones, who scored 26 points along with seven assists, and Shawn Williams, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least a third of Gregory-Portland's points. Another player making a difference was Russell Escamilla, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Victoria East pushed their record up to 17-11 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Gregory-Portland, their victory bumped their record up to 22-4.
Victoria East ended up a good deal behind Gregory-Portland in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, losing 52-33. Can Victoria East avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
