The Monache Marauders will face off against the Wasco Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Monache: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Wasco has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
Monache will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Central East, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Marauders walked away with an 8-3 win over the Bengals last Tuesday.
Sophia Martinez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Aaliyah Mosqueda was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Devynn Emerson, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wasco). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Delano a 21-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering Wasco has won nine games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Wasco let Brailyn Orozco and Emma Gomez run wild. Orozco went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one double, and one RBI, while Gomez went 1-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave Orozco a new career-high. Kilynn McCurdy was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Wasco hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive contests.
Monache's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Wasco, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.
Monache came out on top in a nail-biter against Wasco when the teams last played back in March of 2025, sneaking past 2-0. Do the Marauders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
