The Ridgeview Panthers will square off against the Atlantic Coast Stingrays at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridgeview will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Ridgeview turned things around against Ribault on Friday. They blew past the Trojans 17-2. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Ridgeview got a big performance out of Christopher Beal, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Tripp Hoffine also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Ridgeview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Atlantic Coast was able to grind out a solid win over Christ's Church Academy on Monday, taking the game 9-6. The victory continues a trend for the Stingrays in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.
Carter Terryn was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jackson Adams, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Ridgeview's record is now 7-5. As for Atlantic Coast, their record now sits at 8-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Ridgeview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Atlantic Coast struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Ridgeview skirted past Atlantic Coast 7-6 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
