Even though The Citrus Valley Blackhawks have not done well against the Cajon Cowboys recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Citrus Valley snuck past Cajon with a 31-26 win. Winning may never get old, but Citrus Valley sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Dawson Martinez looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 128 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Dominic Douglas was another key contributor, gaining 79 total yards and a touchdown.
Evan Powell and Jered Rennick, Cajon certainly did their beston Friday to try and avoid the loss. Powell threw for 279 yards and three touchdowns, while Rennick picked up 139 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Citrus Valley's win on Friday bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Cajon, their loss on Friday dropped their record down to an identical 5-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Citrus Valley will take on Redlands East Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Redlands East Valley is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Cajon, they will head out on the road to face off against Yucaipa at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Yucaipa will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
