Baseball Game Preview: Knippa Crushers vs. Brackett Tigers

Knippa hasn't had much luck against Brackett recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Knippa will host Brackett at 4:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Knippa took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Charlotte, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Knippa skirted past Charlotte 3-1.

Memphis G spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cole M, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Knippa's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-6 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Brackett waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Yellowjackets. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Kammron C and Tommy L did most of the damage at the plate: C scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while L scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Troy S was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

Brackett's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Knippa, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-7.
