A Region V recap October 29, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in A Region V this week, Allendale-Fairfax beat Branchville 50-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Tigers.
Estill took down Bethune-Bowman 54-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. DeAngelo Bryant ran for 138 yards during the win.
Whale Branch's dynamic duo of Amagee Stephens and Devonta Glover proved tough for St. John's to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Stephens threw for 84 yards and 2 touchdowns and Glover had 84 yards receiving. Jamar Scott helped Whale Branch's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 18 yards.
Issac Williams was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Fighting Gators beat the Mohawks. The 6-foot-0 defensive end racked up 2 sacks.
Bryant provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Estill topped Bethune-Bowman.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Denmark-Olar's Ricco Parler and Kennth Butler have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-1 quarterback Parler has thrown for 762 yards this season, while Butler has 7 catches for 265 yards. Jarvis Singleton from J.C Threatt's team leads the league in rushing with 1,062 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Allendale-Fairfax takes on the Warriors. Eddie Ford's team is in second place, while Whale Branch is in third place.
The Warriors made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,605 from 10,076. The improvement was largely due to a 28-14 victory over the Islanders last week.
